My Skin Story

I am a true believer that beauty comes from a combination of skin care (exterior) as well as a healthy body and state of mind (interior)
I am what one would call a “makeup minimalist” – so much that my daily routine consists of brushing on a layer of mineral makeup, swiping a bit of Urban Decay eyeshadow in Smog and brown liner over my eyelids, then finishing off the routine with a swift of waterproof mascara over my eyelashes. The main reason for this is that I have a daily 9-5 job as a nurse, so who wouldn’t get lazy in the mornings?

A little story about myself. Makeup is approximately 10% of my beauty budget. The other 90% consists of skin care and health products. Why? Skin health is the most important part of my routine. Anyone who knew me in my teen years and even today knows that I have ALWAYS struggled with acne. My acne was so severe that my dermatologist gave up all hopes of retinol creams, antibiotic creams, and any other type of topical treatment. She put me on Accutane – the absolute last resort. Just when I thought I was destined to have horrible acne for the rest of my teenaged years, Accutane delivered a miracle that turned my life around. My acne completely disappeared, and my skin looked absolutely perfect for years to come. Unfortunately, Accutane was not exactly the permanent fix I was looking for. Soon my skin began to become oily again. Large pores began to develop in my t-zone, and pimples began sprouting just as they did before. It all came back so quickly that I became devastated and fearful that I would have to endure another round of Accutane. I would not let that happen. This was the point when my obsession for skin health developed.

Why I created this blog. I really hope to create this blog for readers who strive for beauty, skin care, and overall health & well being. I am a true believer that beauty comes from a combination of skin care (exterior) as well as a healthy body and state of mind (interior). This is a huge part of why I became a nurse – to help people gain confidence in themselves by transforming their health and to feel beautiful inside and out! I want to teach readers that beauty starts from underneath their makeup. Beauty is part genetics, but most of all, beauty is largely affected by lifestyle and the way that you take care of yourself. I really hope that you find my posts useful and applicable!!
